WomenSing presents its Spring 2017 concert, featuring music that celebrates the life-giving flow of water in our lives. We offer romantic compositions that tell tales of sea fairies and swift sailing boats, to folk songs of deep longing, to gentle melodies that celebrate soft Hawaiian breezes. Works by Mendelssohn, Schumann, and Elgar will be juxtaposed with Marjorie Halloran's 8 Ways to Look at a Window, commissioned by WomenSing. You heard the first four movements in Spring 2016come hear the entire set! The concert will feature Bring A Little Water, Sylvie, most famously recorded by Sweet Honey In the Rock (complete with Moira Smiley's body percussion), and Song for the Mira, beloved in Canada and recorded throughout the world. We will end with Kirby Shaw's uplifting gospel arrangement of Paul Simon's Bridge Over Troubled Water.
We bid farewell to our beloved Artistic Director, Martin Benvenuto, with this concertdon't miss your opportunity to help us make it a fitting tribute to his artistry.
