ACO's 26th Annual Underwood New Music Readings is a chance to witness the process involved in bringing brand new, stylistically diverse orchestral music to life. The culmination of two days of rehearsals and workshops, Music Director George Manahan will conduct the final readings of works by selected composers James Diaz (b. 1990), Nick DiBerardino (b. 1989), Martin Kennedy (b. 1978), Hilary Purrington (b. 1990), Alexander Timofeev (b. 1983), and Yucong (Zoe) Wang (b. 1993) - representing a broad spectrum of musical backgrounds and sound worlds. One composer will be selected to receive a $15,000 commission for a new piece to be performed by ACO during an upcoming season. The readings are free and open to the public, but reservations are strongly recommended.
