Info:
The 4th Annual Summer Gospel Concert by Oakland Interfaith Community Choir (OICC) will resonate with attendees long after the last note falls away. Over 100 singers of various religions, races, ages, and backgrounds lifting their voices in joyful harmony is a sight and sound to behold. OICC, under the direction of Terrance Kelly, will perform a selection of gospel standards and spirituals at the First Congregational Church of Oakland on Saturday, July 22, at 7:00 PM. The event will feature the dynamic Jackie Tolbert and supremely talented Logan McWilliams as guest soloists.
The non-auditioned sister choir to Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir, OICC continues to up its game with every performance. Last year's concert saw people singing and dancing in the aisles. "During part of the song the choir's voices raised, but not at the same time: The sections sort of ping-ponged upward," said Ryan Knapp, of The Bay Bridged, about the 2016 concert,"and you pick up on the excitement and know that you need to quickly adjust in some way to the change in energy, because it's impossible to ignore."
Tickets to the concert run $10, $15, and $35 (High Praise section) and can be purchased at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2948804. The show starts at 7:00 p.m. and will likely keep the joy rolling until about 10:00 p.m. First Congregational Church of Oakland is located at 2501 Harrison Street.
