Announcing the first major show of San Francisco Photo Artist, Jessica Levant, who has been honing her digital skills since 2010. As a guest artist in residence for the month of September, she will be on site most afternoons during the month.
Jessica's work sometimes blurs the line between fine art and design. Her style is influenced some by the pop art of her youth and more by a stubborn insistence on looking around a thing as much as the thing itself. It's entertaining and memorable. She has a habit of seeing visual irony in ordinary life scenes and of turning ordinary life scenes into something unexpected. She's the first to admit however that her work does not fit neatly into any genre. She loves color, but also lets her photos tell her if they'd rather be black and white. She mixes, layers, color-shifts, outlines, and then sometimes just shoots an abstract or - oops - a pretty scene. An avid traveler, her work often draws from the many countries she has visited. Jessica's work has been seen around the Bay in various galleries, group shows and other venues, and there are generally a few pieces in each of the monthly juried shows at the SFWA Gallery on Irving Street, San Francisco.
Works on the walls and in print portfolios will be on exhibit throughout the month of September. She'll meet interested viewers by appointment to show her work, both on the walls and in print portfolios, and is hosting an 'almost-closing' reception towards the end of the month where there will be unframed prints and note cards along with framed works for sale along with the usual refreshments. Please come have a look and bring your art loving friends and family!
