Oct. 21 - 22: 11am, 11:45am, 12:30pm, 1:15pm, 2pm, 2:45pm both days
San Francisco Trolley Dances returns with performances from the city's South of Market to Golden Gate Park. An annual, admission-free festival that takes place each October, SFTD has been dubbed "art for citizens" and "a gift to the City." A total of 12 tours are scheduled over the weekend, six each day starting at 11am, 11:45am, 12:30pm, 1:15pm, 2pm and 2:45pm. Each tour runs approximately two hours.
The festival aims always to be eclectic with a presentation of a variety of styles. This year, audiences will get a taste of traditional Tibetan folk dance and music, dance theater, contact improvisation, hip hop, taiko drumming and much more. Featured performers include Chaksam-Pa Tibetan Dance and Opera Company, Embodiment Project, Hope Mohr Dance, little seismic dance company, Maze Daiko, Epiphany Dance Theater and more. Live music will accompany many of the performances.
The tours start at the California Institute of Integral Studies at 1453 Mission Street and audiences are advised to arrive early to register. At each site, trained volunteers greet audience members, and act as guides leading audiences along the performance journey. Attendees have the option to walk or bike to the performance sites on their own. Route maps will be available on site and online at epiphanydance.org.
