Returning to the venue that hosted its inaugural performances in 2002, Garrett + Moulton Productions will kick off its 15th anniversary season with three world premieres at ODC Theater in San Francisco December 14 through 16. The repertory will include a new large-scale ball-passing work for a cast of 18, Zingo, a rambunctious romp for six dancers through a zany and colorfully animated world, and a new work inspired by and featuring the music of Mozart. In celebration of Garrett + Moulton Productions' 15th anniversary, the Saturday evening performance will be preceded by an audience-wide gathering with wine and beverages and followed by a champagne/dessert reception included in the special Saturday-evening-only ticket price. Tickets for the Thursday and Friday at 8 pm and Saturday at 3 pm performances are priced $25-$32. Tickets for the special Saturday evening anniversary celebration at 8 pm are priced $60 with special supporter and patron tickets at $150 and $500 to support Garrett + Moulton Productions' community engagement and outreach.
The evening includes "Zingo," a new work which explores the madcap, hyper-kinetic adventures of a colorful cast of characters. Juxtaposing the lively music of the Romani-Romanian musical group, Taraf de Haidouks, and Erik Satie's Gnossiennes, this highly animated piece contrasts the vibrant external world of six characters with the more intimate reality of their inner lives.
Also featured is the world premiere of a new 18-Person Ball Passing work made expressly for the company's six soloists and twelve additional guest dancers from the Bay Area dance community.
Mozart's Piano Sonata No 8 A minor K310 provides the inspiration for the third new work on the program. Following the successful integration of Mahler's lieder into their last two productions, Garrett and Moulton continue their investigation of classical music through a lyric sextet set to the Andante and Presto sections of Mozart's iconic piano work.
