We will be at the most famous comedy club in America, The Hollywood Improv! The Setup is a stand up showcase curated by your hosts Richard Sarvate and Abhay Nadkarni. We focus on having diverse lineups in terms of both comedy styles and backgrounds. Our show welcomes both alternative and mainstream acts, given that they are hilarious. We like to have an intimate speakeasy vibe to our shows and the Hollywood Improv Lab is the best space for this type of experience. Voted as one of the best stand up showcases in America by Interrobang.
The Improv was started in 1963 by Budd Friedman and has since been the launching point for hundreds of careers including Richard Pryor, Robin Williams, George Carlin, and many more.
Your hosts for the evening are Richard Sarvate and Abhay Nadkarni. Richard was born in the Bay Area to parents of Indian descent. He used to be a programmer in Silicon Valley for several years before saying screw it and pursuing comedy full time. He worked at a startup called Xobni that was acquired by Yahoo in 2014. These days he talks about all things on stage from silly to serious.
Abhay grew up in the Middle East and India. He came to the US for grad school at USC where he realized that his outsider's perspective gave him a ton of fodder for stand up. He does impressions and waxes philosophical on issues of immigration.
December 20th will feature: Alice Wetterlund (Silicon Valley) Theo Von (Road Rules) Asif Ali (Wrecked) Jak Knight (Meltdown) Debra Digiovanni (Just For Laughs)
