Kevin Carr is a fiddler, Irish piper and storyteller with a warm, witty way of telling a tale or playing an ancient tune. Tall tales and true tales, delightful jigs and reels, seasonings of fact and fancy will all be served up in an Irish stew of music, song and story to warm a winter afternoon.
Irish traditional folk music has enjoyed a huge surge in popularity in the last thirty years. Kevin demonstrates this beguiling music on fiddle, Irish (Uilleann) bagpipes, pennywhistle, tenor banjo, concertina and accordion. He also tells the kind of tales which are inextricably woven in with the music and explains the evolution of the music over the last several centuries.
Kevin has played traditional music for forty years, and performed on stages large and small across the country with bands such as Wake the Dead, Hillbillies from Mars, Les Tetes de Violon, the Family Carr and many others. He has a vast storehouse of rare music, rare instruments and rare tales, which he loves to share.
