Three Decembers by American composer Jake Heggie, starring Metropolitan Opera mezzo soprano, Frederica von Stade. The three parts of the opera are set in the month of December in the years 1986, 1996 and 2006 and it tells the story of a famous actress, and her two adult children as they struggle to know and love each other. Subject matter not appropriate for children. Sung in English.
Jake Heggie's two-act chamber opera is based on an unpublished play, Some Christmas Letters, by Terrence McNally libretto by Gene Scheer. The role of Maddie was created for Frederica von Stade.
