Opening July 20, 5-7pm, exhibition July 20 through Sept 15
Re -imagine is the combined works of Aiko Cuneo, Kathryn Hyde and Monica Lee. Known for their involvement with S.C.R.A.P, the Scrounger's Center for Reusable Art Parts, here in San Francisco, these three artists invite you to re - imagine common everyday items in a new light, and with an artistic purpose in mind. Some of these items used in the show include: discarded books, paint chips, milk cartons, junk mail, coffee sleeves and postage stamps.
A quote from Aiko Cuneo reads: "The art of making something from from someone else's discards is food for my soul as it brings joy and satisfaction from the challenges of transformation."
Kathryn Hyde is currently working with withered wood, discarded cardboard, and rusted metal. She scavenges from city streets, generous building contractors and reuse yards. She carefully pieces the object together, rather like completing a puzzle.
After 30 years as a freelance film photographer in San Francisco, Monica Lee has returned to her first love of making things out of reclaimed and found materials. She teaches creative reuse workshops at Ruth's Table, S.C.R.A.P., The San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living, Fabmo, and the San Francisco Center for the book.
This exhibit opens Friday, July 20th with a public reception from 5 until 7pm and can be viewed daily through September 15th 2018. For more information about the artists and to see some examples of their work, go to our blog, ReclaimedRoom.com .
