Info:
Join us for the Festival & Exhibition Premiere of "Undocumented Heart: Oakland's Day Laborers Tell Their Stories".
Enjoy artwork exhibits, delicious food, live music, and a special performance by the day laborers, directed by Dohee Lee, 2018 Guggenheim Fellow, choreographer, and performance artist-in-residence at Peralta Hacienda for the next two years. Free to attend.
Outdoors on large-scale, 8' x 10' panels, "Undocumented Heart" features stories by the day laborers of their journeys, sacrifices, and resilience, splashed against a spine-chilling historical timeline that reveals colonial and US actions in Mexico and Central America. Indoors, the exhibition presents artworks in paint, textile, and photography by day laborers and artists Marion Coleman, Ramon Carrillo, and Jeff Norman.
