Info:
Luciana Souza returns with a new Jazz-inspired project called "Book of Longing" in which she sets texts by Leonard Cohen and Emily Dickinson to her own music, and also performs pieces by some of Brazil's greatest musicians, Hermeto Pascoal and Milton Nascimento.
Grammy winner Luciana Souza is one of Jazz's leading singers and interpreters. Luciana's work as a performer transcends traditional boundaries around musical styles, offering solid roots in jazz, sophisticated lineage in world music, and an enlightened approach to new music.
Billboard magazine has said of Luciana: "she continues her captivating journey as a uniquely talented vocalist who organically crosses genre borders. Her music soulfully reflects, wistfully regrets, romantically woos, joyfully celebrates..."
About Chico Pinheiro (Jazz Times Magazine): "throughout, Pinheiro's charms as a guitarist, composer and vocalist are hard to resist. Imagine a young Chet Baker, with Luiz Bonfa's chops and Marcos Valle's aching sense of melody, and you get a combination that will have you surrendering with a 'Yes, yes, yes'."
Not only an exceptional guitarist with a wonderful sound and great fluidity, Chico Pinheiro is a unique composer of originality and maturity, qualities that stand out on his solo recordings.
Scott Colley's stature as a leading bassist in the field of improvised music is well known, and easily measured. He's been called "one of the leading bassists of our postbop era, and a composer-bandleader of quietly serious resolve" by The New York Times.
Colley, a three time Grammy nominee, has performed on over 200 recordings, eight of those as bandleader and composer. He is a first-call sideman, as renowned for his role in groups led by well-known headliners as he is for being part of all-star projects.
