Info:
Enjoy music by Claude Debussy with Louise Costigan-Kerns on piano and mezzo soprano Deborah Rosengaus.
One of Claude Debussy's goals as a composer was to "express the inexpressible." He said "music is the expression of the movement of waters, the play of curves described by changing breezes." Deborah and Louise will explore Debussy's music and life and ponder why he is called the first "modern composer." Louise will play selections from his piano compositions and Deborah will talk about his life and sing some of his songs.
Louise has performed internationally as a concert pianist, accompanist and conductor. She earned her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees with honors from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. Currently, she is a senior lecturer in the Performing Arts Department at Notre Dame de Namur University.
