The City of Pleasanton's Harrington Gallery, located inside the Firehouse Arts Center, announces its next major exhibition entitled "Fragments, Edges, & Ambiguities." Roaming the boundaries between realistic and abstract, the installation features the work of five Bay Area artists and "celebrates both the imperfection and surprise of nature and man-made forms," notes Firehouse staff member Alena Sauzade. The exhibition will be on view to the public from March 1 through April 6 during regular gallery hours, as well as during intermissions for ticket holders to Firehouse Arts Center Theater shows and concerts.
The artists: Taryn Curiel (watercolor), Dan Lythcott-Haims (photography), Jane Peterman (ceramic sculpture), Yucali Seki (mixed media), and Cindy Stokes (photography).
The exhibit opens with an Artists' Reception in the gallery on Thursday, February 28, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. The public is welcome to come explore the works, meet and chat with the artists, and enjoy light refreshments. A donation of $5.00 is suggested.
YOUNG @ ART: "Fragments!" is a special class connected to the exhibit for young people ages 5-11. Thursday, March 28, from 4:30-5:45 p.m. Participants will have a guided exploration of the exhibit, then create their own work of art in the studio workshop upstairs. Register at www.pleasantonfun.com, code 12012. The fees are $18 for Pleasanton residents, and $21 for non-residents.
