Info:
American Composers Orchestra presents the N.Y. premiere of Where We Lost Our Shadows, with music by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Du Yun and film by Pakistani artist Khaled Jarrar, at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall. Where We Lost Our Shadows depicts the timeless struggle of human migration and its many effects while celebrating the resilient human spirit that survives it. The piece will be performed by ACO with performance artist and singer Helga Davis, Pakistani Qawwali singer Ali Sethi, and percussionist Shayna Dunkelman. The performance also includes Gloria Coates' Symphony No. 1, "Music on Open Strings," from 1973, and Morton Feldman's 1980 work Turfan Fragments.
