For over a decade, the San Francisco Writing for Change conference has had a clear mission: Help writers change the world for the better through their writing. This one-day event features bestselling authors, editors, publishers, and agents that specialize in working with writers who are passionate about what they are writing.
The 2019 SFW4C presenters include author/actress/activist Brooke Axtell, The O.G. Rev Harry Louis Williams II, Michael Warr (Of Poetry and Protest), bestselling author Nina Amir, Mango Press Acquisitions Editor Brenda Knight, Fuse Literary founder Laurie McLean (also the SFW4C Director), literary agent Peter Beren and Smashwords Marketing Director Jim Azevedo.
The SFW4C event draws attendees from across the US and often a few writers from other countries. It's designed to help writers in any genre and at any level...from beginners to published authors. Included in the registration is a consultation with an independent editor and a chance to talk with the presenters in a 'Speed Dating' format. "It is not a 'how to write' event. It is a 'how to present your ideas written effectively, published in the best possible way, and noticed by the world' conference. Attendees tell us they also appreciate is the copious one-on-one time and motivation,'" says event marketing director Barbara Santos.
