LIEDER ALIVE! concludes our 'Merolini opening trio' with a concert featuring not one but two Merola alumni: charismatic and radiant-voiced tenor Pene Pati joins his (and our) dear friend pianist Ronny Michael Greenberg. Pati makes his LIEDER ALIVE! debut with this performance, but he is already beloved by Bay Area audiences after his much-praised appearances as the Duke in San Francisco Opera's Rigoletto (2017), Alfredo in Opera San Jose's La Traviata (2018), and Romeo in San Francisco Opera's Romeo and Juliet (on October 1st, 2019).
The pair's exciting program features a collection of treasured Strauss Lieder including 'Allerseelen' and 'Ruhe meine Seele,' culminating in the voluptuous 'Heimliche Aufforderung.' The second half brings us to Italy with Tosti's heartfelt and soaring canzoni. As for the surprise encores... well, you'll just have to join us on October 6th to see what Pene and Ronny might come up with!
