Info:
Carolina Eyck is widely considered the world's foremost thereminist. Of her Tiny Desk concert, NPR reports, "to play the theremin like Eyck does, with her lyrical phrasing and precisely 'fingered' articulation, takes a special kind of virtuosity." She brings music from her newest album, Elegies for Theremin & Voice, to Civic Center Studios for this concert celebrating the album's release and the centennial of the invention of the theremin an instrument played without physical contact. Elegies for Theremin & Voice features Eyck's original compositions - haunting works in which Eyck surprises with her vocal prowess. Butterscotch Records releases Elegies for Theremin & Voice on September 27.
