December 13-22, Fridays & Saturdays 7:30pm, Saturdays & Sundays 2pm
Loaded with holiday vibes, the Pleasanton Youth Theatre Company presents Disney's Frozen JR., live onstage at the Amador Theater in Pleasanton, 1155 Santa Rita Road. The show opens December 13, and runs for 2 weekends.
The enchanting modern classic from Disney is based on the 2018 Broadway musical version of Frozen, which includes all the memorable songs from the animated film version. Elsa, Anna, and the magical land of Arendelle come to life with the help of the talented, and recently expanded, production team behind the newly launched PYTC. Music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, plus five delightful songs written exclusively for the Broadway production.
The story: With themes of true love and acceptance between sisters, Frozen JR. expands upon the story and the relationship between Princesses Anna and Elsa. When faced with danger, the two (very different!) sisters discover not only their hidden potential, but also the powerful bond of sisterhood. With a cast of beloved characters and loaded with magic, adventure, and plenty of humor, Frozen JR. is the ticket.
The local actors range from 10 to 17 years of age, and the two casts are dubbed the "Snow Cast" and the "Ice Cast," with a combined 67 performers in the troupe. In addition to returning director and vocal director Andrew Mondello, the production crew includes Amy Tilson-Lumetta, choreographer Ronnie La, stage manager Isla Griston, assistant stage manager Daria Perkova, costumer and Sika Lonner, set design rendering.
Speaking of production crew, the City of Pleasanton partners for the first time with the Las Positas College Theater Arts Department's Career Technical Education program to build the sets. Students in the CTE program rack up experience in theater construction, plus are paid for their hard work. The LPC CTE students for Disney's Frozen JR. are Mike Rinaldi and Karl Haller.
