Call to Reflection: Schubertiade
Presented in collaboration with LIEDER ALIVE!
LIVESTREAM CONCERT: VIRTUAL & FREE
It was with a Schubertiade that the piano festival opened its inaugural season in 2017, and we return to Schubert for reflection and healing in the midst of a turbulent world. Mezzo-soprano Kindra Scharich and pianist Jeffrey LaDeur will share a selection of Schubert's most beautiful lieder, exploring themes of hope, love, loss, and the ephemeral nature of time. Robert Schumann wrote that Schubert's Sonata in G Major was his "most perfect in form and conception", and this performance will intersperse its four expansive movements throughout the evening.
Program:
All-Schubert
Piano Sonata in G Major D.894
I. Molto moderato e cantabile
3 Lieder
Fruhlingsglaube, Auf dem Wasser zu singen, Sei mir Gegrusst
