Barefoot Chamber Concerts ("an enterprise noted for both its quality and informality" - San Francisco Classical Voice) is delighted to welcome the return of the legendary Musica Pacifica (Judith Linsenberg, recorder Elizabeth Blumenstock, violin Alexa Haynes-Pilon, cello and viola da gamba and Yuko Tanaka, harpsichord), the West Coast's most distinguished Baroque chamber group, with its new program, "The Father, the Son, and the Godfather: Music of J.S. Bach, C.P.E. Bach, and Telemann."
This concert will be notable for the presence of Bay Area baroque violin doyenne Elizabeth Blumenstock, the group's original violin player, who returns to the ensemble for a special appearance.
There will be trio sonatas by J.S. and C.P.E. Bach, a canonic duo by Telemann, harpsichord music by J.S. Bach, and more!
Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Musica Pacifica has become widely recognized as one of America's premier baroque ensembles, lauded for both "dazzling virtuosity" and "warm expressiveness." They have been described as "some of the finest baroque musicians in America" (American Record Guide) and "among the best in the world" (Alte Musik Aktuell).
Musica Pacifica's ten CDs on the Virgin Classics, Dorian, Solimar, and Navona labels, including repertoire by J.S. Bach, Vivaldi, Marin Marais, Telemann, and others, as well as their iconic "Dancing in the Isles-folk and Baroque music from England, Ireland, and Scotland"-have won national and international awards, including the highest ratings in several CD magazines and being chosen as "CD of the Month" by the early music journal Alte Musik Aktuell (Regensburg).
