The Uptima Small Business Academy is a 16-month entrepreneurship certificate designed to provide entrepreneurs with support and resources to develop businesses that balance financial sustainability with positive social, environmental, and economic impact.
WHAT YOU WILL GET
You will receive rigorous and hands-on education and mentorship designed to support you in planning, growing, funding, and leading your small business in alignment with your social impact mission.
Quarter 1 - Plan Your Business: Create a business plan and financial forecast, improve your pricing, and refine your brand.
Quarter 2 - Grow Your Business: Review your business processes and use your business data to make decisions on growth plans, improve your sales techniques, and put in place an accounting system.
Quarter 3 - Fund Your Business: Identify the right funding for your business, navigate a funding process, and learn how to manage your funds.
Quarter 4 - Lead Your Business: Begin to cultivate a team and develop leadership capabilities to take your business to the next level.
COMMIT TO BUILDING YOUR BUSINESS
Average time commitment for our Academy is 15-20 hours / week dedicated to building your business. A typical week for our Academy entrepreneurs consists of participation in two weekly workshops, business development activities, one-on-one mentorship sessions, peer groups, and required readings and research.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE
Entrepreneur who is a current resident of Chicago owns a majority stake and manages the day-to-day operations of your business has an online presence and under $50K in annual sales and wants to create a positive community impact.
HOW MUCH IT COSTS
The cost of our Academy consists of a monthly fee over your 16-month enrollment period. Monthly fees are determined on a sliding scale of $25-$400 / month based on household income. In addition, we charge a one-time $50 non-refundable deposit to enroll in our Academy.
