Spend the solstice morning immersed in the beauty of gardens that nourish the earth, body, and spirit. Begin your day in the Edible Garden at Marin Art & Garden where renowned landscape designer and author of The Food Forward Garden, Christian Douglas shares his insights on designing gardens with food at the heart.
Learn the key principles of creating a food-forward garden, where beauty meets bounty, and discover how thoughtful design can yield an abundance of edible delights year-round. Enjoy a guided tour of the thriving fruits, vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers growing on-site.
Then, take a short trip to Kentfield for an exclusive private tour of one of Christian's award-winning residential food gardens. This lush, thoughtfully designed space features vegetable beds, fruit trees, edible landscaping, a meandering stream, serene ponds, and even chickens and ducklings! Each guest will receive a signed copy of The Food Forward Garden to continue the inspiration at home.
Christian Douglas is a multi-award-winning landscape designer, creating beautiful and productive outdoor spaces for over 30 years. Combining his formal training in classical design and his passion for regenerative agriculture, he has created innovative landscapes in his native England, the Middle East and the United States, with food at the heart. Constantly inspired by the common connection traditional cultures have to their environment and growing food, Christian believes modern landscape design has a significant role and responsibility to play in restoring our relationship to the natural world - starting with food.
Christian has been featured in Architectural Digest, WSJ, California Home & Design and Sunset Magazine, and is the author of "The Food Forward Garden" (Oct '24) with Artisan Books.
