Info:
Forest Bathing originated in Japan in the 1980's as an antidote to chronic stress and disease. Countless studies prove that guided walks in the forest reduce anxiety, improve focus, increase gratitude, boost immune function, and lower blood pressure and cortisol levels. It's a chance to slow down, unplug, and fill your senses with wonder.
What to expect:
A 2-hour experience built upon a series of invitations and sharing circles. Participants are led in an activity to fully feel the presence of the place in which we find ourselves, then we wander slowly for 15-20 minutes, focusing on a prompt. Examples might be notice what's in motion explore texture or focus on the music of this place. After each prompt, we gather to share what we've noticed. Our final sharing circle includes tea and snacks.
Your guide will be Joanne Greene, certified with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy whose motto is: The forest serves as the therapist the guide opens the door. She is the author of "By Accident: A Memoir of Letting Go" and host of the podcast, In This Story, Joanne is a former San Francisco radio talk show host and news anchor, who currently helps people focus on what's meaningful in guided walks and presentations.
