Alice Warnecke Sutro's solo art show, "Come To My Living Room," is a rare opportunity to see permanent works on paper from a Sonoma County artist mostly known for performing large-scale drawings in public spaces. This exhibition displays select spreads from a book of drawings that have at their heart a nude figure drawing session with two models in the artist's living room. The gestures of touch are occluded by layers of process that tell the story of personal interactions: pencil transferred to copper etching, light from a stage, shadows of the seasons, and the freedom to paint dreams with digital overlay.
Alice Warnecke Sutro is an artist and grape grower, who studied art history at Stanford and received her MFA from California Academy of the Arts. She founded the wine label SUTRO in 2012 to highlight the unique volcanic terroir of her family's hundred year-old property, Warnecke Ranch and Vineyard, on the Russian River.
Meet the artist and enjoy a glass of wine and light refreshments at the informal, free opening reception on Friday, July 11 from 5-7 pm. There will be brief remarks by the artist at 6 pm. Space is limited, please RSVP via Eventbrite to guarantee your ticket.
The show venue is Alley Gallery, a welcoming, artist-led gallery just off the Sonoma Plaza in the LaHaye Art Center. Alley Gallery is the perfect place to see new artwork and meet people from throughout the Bay Area who are excited about art and artists.
"Come To My Living Room" will be on view from July 11-20, Thursdays through Sundays from 11 am - 4 pm and by appointment. Alice will give a free artist talk on Thursday, July 17th at 6 pm, in which she will discuss her art practice and techniques and the evolution of her vision.
