The Cygnus Argenteus Consort is an ensemble of fretted, bowed string instruments popular during the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Consort members are Marie Szuts, Tobi Szuts, David Miller, Erik Andersen, and Elisabeth Reed.
Choral Evensong with the St. Luke's Choir, directed by Dr. Joy-Leilani Garbutt, will perform music by William Byrd and Orlando Gibbons, two of the most celebrated English composers during the late Renaissance and early Baroque eras. Gibbons, a brilliant younger contemporary of the influential Byrd, learned from his example and together they represent the pinnacle of English Renaissance music and the transition to the Baroque era.
This program will take place in the intimate setting of Dade Hall. Enter at the red doors around the corner, on Clay Street. Feel free to attend the only the concert or Evensong, or both. A festive reception will follow Evensong, and everyone is welcome to attend.
Parking at Old First Garage (1725 Sacramento St.) is complimentary. See a St. Luke's usher to have your ticket stamped.
