Based on Emily Wilson's new translation of The Odyssey By Homer, join We Players, San Francisco Bay Area's premiere site-specific theatre company in the Conservatory of Flowers Orchid Pavilion for their performance of Odyssea.
A self-styled secret society, these massive fans of classical antiquity pose as hotel service workers in order to sneak into academic conferences and in this way be close to their erudite heroes and absorb some essence of their Olympic-level intellectual prowess.
Our characters make the ancient myths their own through unique interpretations and stitch themselves into the lineage of Homeric bards through telling their versions of the tales. Bringing themselves joy by taking it all very seriously and savoring silliness, these clowns know that like the Gods themselves we can be both sacred and ridiculous, solemn and irreverent, agnostic and devoted, petty and sincere, all at once.
Perhaps this is the truth the Gods represent, that the Divine is all things, in all places, at all times, all at once.
