  The San Francisco Choral Society continues its season with a return to Davies Symphony Hall featuring a semi-staged production of Carl Orff's popular Carmina Burana alongside the world premiere of a newly-commissioned work by Bay Area-based composer Eric Tuan. Artistic Director Robert Geary, winner of the prestigious 2023 Chorus America Michael Korn Award, will lead the combined forces of more than 150 voices, the California Chamber Symphony, the San Francisco Youth Chorus, and numerous guest artists.

Carl Orff's popular Carmina Burana will be presented as semi-staged production that breathes new life into one of the world's most beloved choral masterpieces. The work's journey through fate, fortune, love, and revelry is enhanced by staging from acclaimed Bay Area artist Rotimi Agbabiaka, whose recent original cabaret Godless premiered at the Presidio Theatre.

Also featured on the program is the world premiere of Three Portraits: Voices of Chinese American Women from Early California, by composer Eric Tuan. Commissioned by SF Choral, the work is based on three firsthand testimonies of Chinese American women living in 19th-century California, bringing these remarkable individuals to life through their own words and voices.
