  San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra Music Director Radu Paponiu guides three SFCM student competition winners through the concertos of their choice.

Guitarist Kaz Hudson will be playing Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco's Guitar Concerto No. 1 in D Major, Op. 99 violinist Mark Chen Sergei Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 1 in D Major, Op. 19 and cellist Lekai Li closes the evening with William Walton's Cello Concerto.

SFCM's annual Concerto Competition offers the student body the opportunity to star with the Conservatory Orchestra. This includes public orchestral workshops with distinguished guest conductors, like Donald Runnicles, Carl St. Clair, Nicola Luisotti, and Peter Oundjian.

Prior to his current role, Radu served as Associate Conductor of the Naples Philharmonic for five years, and seven as Music Director of the Philharmonic's Youth Orchestra. He also served as Music Director for the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, and has guested with symphony orchestras in San Francisco, Dallas, St. Louis, Rhode Island, Louisiana, Illinois, Colorado, and North Carolina. Aside from Naples, his international performances have included Berlin, Romania, Bologna, and Transylvania.
