  This annual event honors and recognizes local companies that are striving to be family friendly and awards the best efforts in seven different categories based on number of employees, as well as non-profit status, medical or educational organization. Entry forms and materials are submitted, then judged by an independent panel of judges from the community. Seven companies win "best of the best" status, while others are honored as "friends of the family." It all culminates in the November issue of Birmingham Parent, where winners and friends will be highlighted with stories, etc. and a great chart helps job seekers compare and contrast the many different companies based on their family friendly policies and practices
