The NBWC is the largest gathering of its kind in North America and has been hailed by celebrated author, Walter Mosley, as one of the best on the planet. Mrs. Myrlie Evers, wife of the late civil rights activist, Medgar Evers, is the Honorary Conference Chair.
The theme of the conference is Black Literature: Expanding Conversations on Race, Identity, History and Genre. Conference highlights include a conversation with Marita Golden and Susan McHenry and the participation of Quincy Troupe, Ismael Reed, Walter Mosley, Staceyann Chinn, Ellease Southerland, Camille Yarborough, Obery Hendricks and many other noted authors.
