Retirees looking for their next place to live will get all of their questions answered at the free Northeast Seattle Retirement Community Fair.
This one-stop shopping event, hosted by Northwest Prime Time, brings together 18 retirement communities and senior housing providers in the greater Northeast Seattle area. The fair offers attendees the chance to compare and contrast their retirement living options in one geographic area.
The fair runs from 9 a.m. to noon. From 10 to 11 a.m. attendees will hear from four guest speakers. They include:
* Liz Taylor, of Aging Deliberately, is a long-time Seattle Times columnist and 35-year veteran in the aging profession. She will offer tips on figuring out housing options. Choosing a retirement community is a complicated puzzle that requires balancing many factors - and when done right, allows individuals to create a wonderful new home for many years.
* Eric Rovner, of Benevia, a local comprehensive senior transition coordination services company that helps individuals with relocation, care and professional services. Charlie Allen and Carolyn Lathrop of Windermere real estate. Together, they will answer questions that follow a decision to move to a retirement community: What's the best time and method to sell a home in today's economy? How does one decide what to bring to the new home? What's the best way to sell/donate/discard of items left behind? How does one plan for a stress-free move?
Guests will also enjoy music by everyone's favorite harpist, Bronn Journey, and refreshments prepared by local chefs. In addition, guests are invited to enter a prize drawing to win a three-night Celebrity Cruise from Seattle to British Columbia and "A Grand Night Out," including dinner, a show and overnight accommodations provided by The 5th Avenue Theatre.
