Answers Empower, You Can Ask the Questions: Women’s Health 45th Annual Women’s Symposium in March 2010 The Women’s Center at Southern Methodist University is pleased to announce our 45th Annual Women’s Symposium will be held on March 3, 2010 in the Hughes Trigg Student Center. This year will address women and health to the theme Answers Empower, You Can Ask The Questions. Our keynote address will be given by America’s leading expert in women’s sexual health, Dr. Laura Berman. Dr. Berman has written several books, including: Real Sex for Real Women and The Passion Prescription. She is a columnist for the Chicago-Sun Times, and is heard nightly in her own radio show. At our Symposium we will be honoring five women with our Profiles in Leadership Award, which honors women who exemplify leadership through a lifetime of accomplishments. The women to be honored in March include: Deidre Bacala – Director of Donor Relations and Annual Programs, Parkland Foundation Michele Bobadilla – Senior Associate Vice President for Outreach Services and Community Engagement at the University of Texas at Arlington Cece Cox – Associate Executive Director, GLBT Community Services, Resource Center of Dallas Christine Jarosz – Executive Director of the Women's Communities Association Sarah Polley – Executive Director of the Vickery Meadow Learning Center In addition to our Profiles in Leadership Award, we will also be honoring one outstanding woman with our Gail Reese Ward Excellence in Mentoring Award. This award recognizes an award recipient for especially significant contributions as a mentor to girls and women.
