Friday, March 12, 7PM Free Lecture, 7:30PM Concert
On Friday March 12, 7:30 pm, The School of Music and Dance and the Kurosawa Piano Music Foundation will co-present the second annual historic keyboard concert.
It is a little known fact that San Jose State University us a host to a collection of remarkable historic instruments that span 300 years of keyboard history, The collection is unique because all the instruments are in playing condition and have been featured in concerts and recordings.
An 1861 French Erard Grand Piano manufactured in London will be un-veiled at this concert which will also include an 1875 French Erard manufactured in Paris, and an 1871 Viennese Streicher Grand Piano donated last year. Guest pianists Louise Costigan-Kern and William Wellborne will join Dr. Gwendolyn Mok and the faculty from the School of Music of San Jose State University in an evening of piano ensemble works featuring Schumann, Massenet, Chopin and Milhaud.
