The Antonio Peralta House Museum is open for tours! On the second Saturday of every month, you can take guided tours of the historical exhibits, which weave California history with the stories of today's Fruitvale community.

The house was built in 1870, near the site of Antonio Peralta's earlier residence, which is the oldest European structure in the East Bay! Indoor and outdoor exhibits, including an immersive audio tour, tell the story of the birthplace of Oakland, the Peralta family and the original Ohlone inhabitants of the land.

The Peralta House exhibits explore the unique history of the Fruitvale neighborhood, and rely on interviews with locals to tell Oakland history from Spanish contact through today.

Through June, the special exhibit room features a multimedia exhibit about the art and history of Oakland's Mien community, refugees from Laos. Through films, photography, and the women's own words and art pieces, "Embroidering Our Lives: Mien Women at Peralta Hacienda" is a testament to the power of cultural exchange.

Tours start on the half hour between 2 and 4pm. Book ahead to ensure a place! Admission, including a tour, is free. Donations are welcome.
