The Kanbar Center for the Performing Arts will start wrapping up their 20th season with the Los Pinguos Band. The next to last 'Summer Nights' concert at the Osher Marin JCC is Saturday night, July 31, 2010. As with every outdoor summer concert this season, the evening will begin with a pre-concert dance lesson - so be prepared to Salsa the night away! The Los Pinguos Band is perfect for those who desire virile vocals, sensual strings and energetic rhythmical beating of the cajon - all without leaving the comfort and beauty of Marin County. Doors open at 6:15pm, pre-show Salsa dance lesson with Melanie Morris begins at 6:40pm, and Latin rhythms will begin at 7:00pm. Los Pinguos is a mixture of Latin Rhythms, performed with Spanish guitars, a Cuban Tres, Peruvian cajon (box-drum), and bass by Adrian Buono, Jose Agote, Juan Manzur, Juan Manuel, and Santiago Lee. With deep Latin roots, the band appeals to a wide and diverse audience around the globe as their sound travels along the spectrum of reggae, bossa nova, and even a little rock-and-roll.
