David Hartwig, Managing Director, SAP Ventures David has been involved in venture capital investing since 1997. Most recently, he was a vice president within American Capital’s Technology Group, responsible for identifying, evaluating, and leading investments in early to late stage private companies across a variety of technology market segments.
Before joining American Capital, Dave was a senior associate with Battery Ventures, working as a member of the company's communications group. While at Battery, he worked on data-center, software, and components investments, including investments in Advanced Analogic Technologies [AATI] and Sigmatel [SGTL]. Dave also worked at Deloitte Consulting, where he primarily managed enterprise software and call-center technology integration prjects.
He received an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley and a BSE with honors from Princeton University. Dave is a board member at On Deck Capital and a board observer at Datria, Payscale, Ping Identity, Qumu, and Tremor Media. He led the investment in and was a board observer at Greenplum (acq. by EMC) and managed the investment in Ops Technology (acq. by RealPage).
Dave is interested in opportunities related to financial services, on-demand applications, big-data analytics and infrastructure, digital media. He also evaluates investments related to China.
