Info:
Whether you grew up living the life of the Evans family on "Good Times" or one more like the Huxtables on "The Cosby Show," your economic and social status has impacted how you live your life and how you are perceived by others.
Is it okay for us to separate ourselves by class? Or is that too divisive, in light of the many challenges we have in our community?
How have your experiences differed interacting with African-Americans in various classes?
Do you buy into DuBois "talented tenth" philosophy? Do the upwardly mobile have an obligation to help the less fortunate among us?
Why is the black upper class so often invisible in American society?
Join TalkBLACK, Atlanta's premier African-American discussion group, as we explore the age old discussion explored in the book Our Kind of People.
Atlanta's premier African-American discussion group
TalkBLACK meets 1st Saturday every month from 1pm - 3pm at various black-owned establishments around Atlanta (except holidays). We discuss everything from pop culture and politics to religion and relationships and anything relevant to the African-American community. Our meetings are FREE we only ask that attendees support the African-American-owned venue that hosts us by purchasing an item.
