Saturday, September 17, 2011, Race 1pm to 4pm Party 4pm to 7pm
Join us for a fun, easy, and spirited adventure! This is your chance to make a difference in the lives of kids and adults with special needs.
The Special Place Race is an exciting, high energy urban adventure in the heart of the San Francisco Peninsula! You and your team will set out on foot to solve puzzles, challenges and clues, in a race to raise funds to support teens & adults with disabilities. Race begins promptly at 1:00 p.m. Awards & Finish-Line Party from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Invite family & friends to celebrate your victory with live music by Doc Roc and the Disorderlies, drinks, food, silent auction, raffle & awards! ($10 at the door for non-racers.) Racers age 18+ only please. Children accompanied by an adult are welcome at the Finish-Line Party.
Our special needs friends & family are counting on us to create a place for them in our community. We can't live forever, so the next best thing is building a safe, permanent, sustainable, and challenging environment where they can thrive socially and emotionally. Let's build the future for these kids together!
Form a team of your friends, colleagues, & family. (4 to 6 teammates can participate in the race, but each team can have an unlimited number of donors.) The team that raises the most money will be immortalized on a tribute wall at the future Special Place Farm.
All proceeds from the adventure will be donated to Special Place Foundation. The foundation helps individuals with disabilities become as independent as possible, through social, vocational, and life-skills training. Special Place is dedicated to providing a sustainable lifelong urban-farm residence, where our friends and family members with disabilities can live a purposeful life in the local community.
