Info:
The October 27, 2011 "Meet the Experts" Kanban and Just in Time Manufacturing Forum will feature Leonard Bertain and Frank Dutra. Kanban is a concept related to lean and Just in Time (JIT) production. In this Forum you will learn about the origin and operation of Kanban and the use of Kanban cards, the Three-Bin System, as well as Toyota's six Kanban rules.
Leonard Bertain, Ph.D., Founder of CEO University and Corporate Innovation, will explain key elements in his book 'The New Turnaround: A Breakthrough for People, Profits and Change'. The book describes a problematic new company and the transformation into a world class competitor, using an effective, new approach to productivity and profitability. Dr. Bertain will also touch on elements included in his new book, 'Tribal Knowledge Paradox', which analyzes the role that all employees play in the War on Waste. Both books use fictional situations to illustrate how good business practices should work.
Frank Dutra of Advanced Machining Techniques will discuss and provide examples to show the pros and cons of Kanban and Just in Time Manufacturing, as related to the fabrication of custom machined parts. Frank will explain the key considerations to achieve the lowest cost and highest quality manufactured parts. The machining demonstrations will be coupled with the Kanban presentation to illustrate the factors contributing to cost saving as a function of order size and delivery timing.
Tom Roberts of SMP Tech, Inc., will be the forum moderator. After the presentation and shop floor tour of Advanced Machining Techniques, door prizes will be given away and a complimentary lunch will be served to all attendees.
