Info:
Educators from public, private, home schools and colleges are invited to attend The DuSable Museum’s annual Educators’ Open House to learn about our upcoming programs, exhibitions and services. Educators will have a chance to attend a morning or afternoon session and the day will be filled with tours, demonstrations, and a performing arts showcase led by professional artists participating in The DuSable Museum’s newest outreach program, “Making History Come Alive through the Arts.”
Open house attendees will also have a chance to board and experience our two newest outreach vehicle, The DuSable Mobile Museum. The DuSable Mobile Museum is a 32 foot long, 12 foot high Museum on wheels that uses hands-on interactives and live interpreters to teach students about the history and legacy of Chicago’s first permanent settler, Jean Baptiste Pointe DuSable. Also on view will be our newest traveling exhibitions Charles Smith: Homecoming the work of intuitive artist Dr. Charles Smith, and the exhibition EVERYWHERE with Roy Lewis that examines the career of one of the nation’s premier photographers.
This event is completely FREE for all educators with identification and includes light refreshments and credits for continuing professional development.
