This Memorial Day weekend, party with Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Rosie the Riveter at the Craneway Pavilion.
Join us for swing dance lessons, a concert and an electrifying evening of 40's fun and frolic. Sparks will fly when the multi platinum-selling band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy sets the dance floor afire with their classic take on American swing dance music.
The event celebrates the opening of the Rosie the Riveter Visitor Center, the final redevelopment project at the historic Ford Point in Richmond.
The Rosie the Riveter Visitor Center, curated by the National Park Service, is located in the Oil House of the historic Ford Assembly Plant - an edifice of American history that was rescued and rehabilitated by Orton Development Inc. and Marcy Wong Donn Logan Architects. The museum is the final piece to the major historical 525,000 square foot redevelopment project at Ford Point, which has galvanized economic growth in Richmond.
The permanent collection at the Rosie museum will commemorate those women pioneers who broke into the workforce when the country needed them most, paving the way for the working women of today.
The celebration takes place adjacent to the Visitor Center, at the Craneway Pavilion, a location where many Rosies actually worked during World War II. Net proceeds from the event benefit the non-profit Rosie the Riveter Trust.
This party is not to be missed! Period appropriate attire is recommended.
