August 27, 2010 - Friday
At the equator 20,000 ft in the air
7:15pm
I am writing this entry while crossing the equator. I have been thinking about Lima, Peru for over two years. The African - Peruvian culture has been a mystery to me. As I cross the equator, I am trying to feel any sensation as I move from the northern hemisphere to the southern hemisphere. I am experiencing a seasonal change as I move from the middle of summer into the middle of winter. Before crossing the equator I tried to get a glimpse of Cuba. I believe I saw apart of it. As we moved across the Caribbean sea I could feel a strong essence of the tropics overtake me. What an amazing phenomenon has occurred. It appears that on the northern part of the sky, the sun is bright and shining, however, on the southern part of the sky, it is completely dark. I am actually seeing night and day at the same time. What a beautiful sunset. It appears to be getting much darker as we approach the equator. We departed one hour late and I shall arrive in Lima, Peru around midnight. I departed (Fort Lauderdale, Florida) while staring into the Atlantic Ocean. I arrived while staring into the blackness of the Pacific Ocean.

August 28, 2010 - Saturday
12:00pm (Lima, Peru)
I arrived at the Grand Bolivar Hotel which was 20 minutes away from the Lima International Airport. The hotel had a man waiting on me carrying my name. It was a bit chilly but rather cool for me, sweater weather. I am in Lima, Peru, South America. My address for these next 2 days is: Grand Bolivar Hotel. Room #423. Jr. De La Union 958. San Martin Plaza. Lima, Peru……Good night. I hope to sleep well
