HELP THE KIDS at Faith Christian Academy win a $ 50,000 grant to create the:

FUN (Friends with Unique Needs) Place
A unique indoor play environment for the community that addresses sensory integration, social interaction and exercise!

History
Established in 2005, Faith Christian Academy (FCA) is a non-profit Christ-centered educational institution for children with different abilities (disabilities). Self confidence is achieved as academics, effective communication and social skills are addressed daily in preparation for the future. In January 2009, due to the increasing need of support and services in our community, the school expanded to include an education and resource center. The center promotes public awareness and understanding of disabilities and disability related topics through parent workshops, teacher in-service training, disability resource center, curriculum corner and children’s library.

The Grant
Earlier this year, Faith Christian Academy was nominated for a Power A Bright Future grant from the Clorox Company in hopes of securing up to $ 50,000 in funding for the FUN Place. After a competitive national nomination period, now is the time for our community to show its support. Help Faith Christian Academy by casting your vote daily, starting October 24, 2011 through December 9, 2011. Adults and kids 13 and older can vote online at www.PowerABrightFuture.com. The program that receives the highest number of votes will be awarded the $ 50,000 grand prize, and the top vote-getters in Play, Create, and Explore categories respectively will each be awarded a $ 25,000 grant.

The FUN Place
A $ 50,000 grant would allow our school and education center to create The FUN (Friends with Unique Needs) Place for children with different abilities (disabilities) in our community. Imagine being a parent of a child desperately in need of sensory integration, social interaction and exercise yet going to the park, attending social events or visiting a community center is not an option. Now, imagine the smile on the face of a child, as he experiences indoor rock climbing wall, padded tunnel or a zip line, for the first time. The FUN Place will allow "special needs children" the opportunity to just be CHILDREN while providing sensory integration, social interaction and exercise.
