March 13, 2012. Jacksonville, Florida
I leave for Johannesburg, South Africa today around 4:00pm

I am writing this entry while flying over the Swiss Alps (35,000 ft). The snow top mountains look so beautiful from up here> I arrived in Amsterdam from Atlanta at 8:00am on my way to Johannesburg, South Africa. As I gazed out over these alps they look like miles and miles of chunks of chocolate with white sugar on top of them. The peaks and valleys are covered with snow. As I continue to view these creations from my plane window, I can not help but thank God for giving me this breathtaking vision. These Swiss Alps look like lemon meringue pies from the earth's bakery. In just a few minutes we shall be flying over Italy. The Swiss Alps are losing their snow top and are now covered by a heavy fog. You can see the climate change. I must endure a 11 hour flight, non-stop, from Amsterdam to Johannesburg.

12:20pm
We are now flying over Verona, Italy and the snow is completely gone as the Mediterranean climate makes its entrance. I took out my binoculars to take a peek of a small Italian village. The mountains are gone and there appears to be small Italian villages everywhere. The navigators on the back seats of the airplane are a great geographical assistance and learner. It appears in a few minutes we shall be flying over Rome, Italy. I can get a good glimpse of the Ionian Sea, but not to Yugoslavia, as the aircraft is steering towards Africa. The stewardess is passing. It is time for lunch. Lunch, over Florence, Italy. How fitting, lunch was spinach pasta, while flying over Italy. However, Italy is not the origin of pasta, but is more recognized.
