I stopped by the super market and grabbed some more fruit, bread, buttermilk and water to join the others I have back at the hotel. I have come to realize that I eat very healthy when I am on these adventures, because I must have a lot of energy. Let me share this African commercial I saw today on African TV (SABC: South African Broadcasting Company). There were these elders sitting outside a hut eating chicken, when they finished, they did not have any napkin, so they called a bald headed little boy over. They started blessing him while rubbing their hands across this head. They reason they called the little boy was to dry their hands…..We are taught to respect our Elders.
Well I am at 400 plus photographs and tomorrow I catch the train to Pretoria. I shall watch some more African TV before I go to sleep. May God Bless.
PS: As I was walking through Orlando East, SOWETO, I could not help but notice how many Bread & Breakfast Inns there are there. Especially in the area where the Mandela & Tutu historic landmarks are.

I slept very well last night from 7:00pm - 5:00am. I can honestly say I am not ready to return to the states, especially on my travels. After 4 days, I am usually ready to return, however here in Johannesburg, South Africa, I feel I am at home. Let me explain the geographical structure of Johannesburg. The city of Johannesburg is in the province of Gauteng. Gauteng is one of the nine provinces in the country of South Africa. Gauteng was once called the province Transvaal during apartheid. Gauteng is of the Sesotho language and means “Place of Gold”. SOWETO means SOuth WEstern TOwnship which is inside the city of Johannesburg. There are many communities inside SOWETO.
I am planning to take a photo-walk in the neighborhood of Bertram, where I am staying, then afterwards return to the hotel for breakfast then catch the Rea Vaya to Joubert Park and walk over to Park Station, then catch the Metrorail to the city of Pretoria, which is one hour away. Let’s see what kind of Safari, today shall bring. I am hoping to be in Pretoria for about 5 hours before returning back to Johannesburg. I can hear the birds starting to sing.

I walked and walked all around Bertram and headed for downtown Johannesburg. I photographed much this morning. There is no sun but a heavy fog is in the air. You can see the sun trying to come through. I am having a morning conversation with Emanuel as he fix my breakfast. He tells me that Johannesburg is called “The City of Egoli ” Egoli is Zulu for “God”. Breakfast consist of eggs, toast and coffee. A hearty breakfast. We are having an interesting conversation about slavery. They are schooled differently about slavery than we are. Much of their history they are taught about slavery is NOT true. Many people work here in Johannesburg. The town is very busy.
