(November 5, 2008 - Atlanta, GA)

Congratulations President-elect Barack Obama and the new first family of the United States of America!!!

I salute and congratulate the American people and President-elect Obama on last night's historic victory. I wish him all the best of good health, peace, safety, and success in uniting all Americans, and effectively leading the U.S. to a restored state of peace, stability and prosperity while concurrently providing visionary, effective, innovative, and steady leadership and solutions to address the many challenges that presently exist as well as those that may arise in the years ahead.

The American voters have spoken and Barack Obama has been elected as the 44th president of the United States of America. November 4, 2008 will be remembered, rightfully and appropriately, as a historic and memorable day in American and global history, given the historical significance of Obama's candidacy and his ultimate election.

The United States has come a long way within its borders in demonstrating to all Americans and the entire world that a highly intelligent, visionary, transformational, well prepared, highly articulate, well educated, compassionate, capable, competent, committed, and driven American of any race, color, gender, or ethnic, cultural or religious background can aspire and ultimately be elected to the highest office in the land.

Abraham Lincoln, Lyndon B. Johnson, and Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., the powerful and transformational civil rights leader of his generation, and countless others are looking down or looking up and smiling with elation and joy that America has made such significant progress in the relatively short period of time since King's assassination in 1968 and Obama's election in 2008. Obama will be sworn in as U.S. President on the steps of the capitol on January 20, 2009, the day after the nation celebrates King's birthday.

King's dream and hope that everyone in this country and around the world be truly judged by the content of his or her character and not the hue color of one's skin has been fulfilled. An energized coalition of millions of Blacks and Whites and Hispanics and Asians and Native Americans and other Americans donated their time, talents, finances, voices and votes to make Obama's election a reality. Hundreds of millions to billions around the globe could not vote but continuously displayed their enthusiasm, support, hope and encouragement from abroad that Obama would be elected.

The ballots have been counted and the people have spoken. It's a new day in America and around the world, but now the actual work begins.

So much has changed during the past eight years with President George W. Bush in the White House and much is broken or perceived to be, and hence undoubtedly the U.S. is in dire need of the fresh new leadership, style, vision, judgment, temperament, change, hope, priorities, and direction that President-elect Barack Obama represents.

Undoubtedly, with so much at stake given our current state and what has recently transpired, our new president will be faced with monumental challenges that this nation has not faced in many years, and extremely high expectations, but also many opportunities.

The last time a new U.S. president was elected to a first term in 2000, Americans were leading relatively prosperous and peaceful lives at home, and were mostly respected around the globe.

The U.S. has catapulted into a considerable state of strife, and a nearly 80-year low level of economic decline and financial calamity at home. Millions of Americans have suffered drastically and been adversely impacted due to monumental job losses and a lack of viable replacement opportunities, unstable financial markets, eroding wealth and retirement savings, high foreclosures and declining home values, frozen credit markets, etc. Furthermore, our foreign policy decisions during the past eight years have resulted in the considerable loss of respect and support abroad from our allies, and increased friction with our foes.

Given that there are many divergent issues and factors to consider that impact our lives, it's highly doubtful that any independent-minded person will be 100% in agreement with President-elect Obama (or any president) policies, position, and decisions on all issues - e.g., the economy, housing, healthcare, national security, taxes, foreign policy, energy, education, social issues, homeland security, social security, immigration, etc.

There's nothing wrong with constructive criticism, having opposing views, or a healthy and respectable debate. We should be constructively critical and hold President-elect Obama and our other chosen leaders accountable to deliver in the best interests of ALL the people while remaining unbiased, respectful and open-minded in assessing their actions, decisions, and results.

But we should also be personally accountable and responsible, seek to positively impact our communities and others in our circle of influence, and strive to continuously give our best to be part of the solutions and progress, and not be part of the problem.

We should do all we can in our lives, communities, families, and work environments to make the best and wisest choices and decisions, and to fully understand and be accountable and responsible for the consequences thereof.

It's now time for ALL to unite and come together in the collective best interests of this great country and the world that we all share and call our home.
