Morehouse College Entrepreneurship Center Hosts First Annual Entrepreneurship Conference


ATLANTA, GA - The Morehouse College Entrepreneurship Center (MCEC) is poised to empower budding entrepreneurs with its first annual Entrepreneurship Conference, "Strategies of Small Business Success," at the Leadership Center at Morehouse College on Thursday, Jan. 31.

Nearly 600,000 businesses are formed each year in the United States, but without proper financial resources, sound business planning and a solid marketing strategy, tens of thousands of these entrepreneurs will fail before they even get off the ground.

"Strategies of Small Business Success," will provide the survival tools, skills and resources for small businesses to succeed and prosper in their business endeavors.

Entrepreneurs from Atlanta and across the southeast will take part in this one-day event that will feature presentations by business leaders from various sectors including technology, international business, media and government.

Seminar speakers include Dan F. Sturdivant, II, Assistant to the Director Outreach Programs, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Willie E. Woods '85, Jr. Managing Director, ICV Capital Partners Michael Chang, Small Business Advocate in the Lockheed Martin Supplier Programs Office and a host of Morehouse Alumnus turned successful entrepreneurs.

Tiffany Bussey, Director of the Government Programs, oversees the MCEC. She says she is pleased that the MCEC is available to provide a platform for small business owners to get the strategies and information they need to succeed in today's competitive business environment.

"For entrepreneurs, the issue is not starting the business," says Bussey. "It is sustainability. Our focus at the MCEC is helping small business owners experience growth and longevity. Those attending the entrepreneurship conference will leave with greater knowledge and the tools and strategies needed to succeed in business."

"Strategies of Small Business Success" attendees will have an opportunity to attend a variety of workshops throughout the day. Session topics include:

Starting and Sustaining a Business
Doing Business with Federal Agencies
Contracting with Homeland Security
How to Do Business Globally
