RECRUITING EVENT TO HOUSTON, TX
(Houston – February 2005 )
– Join the U. S. State Department on
Thursday, March 3, 2005 from 6:30pm
– 8:30pm with host partner, Minority Professional Network, for the
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE'S DIVERSITY
CAREER NETWORKING NIGHT. The event will take place at the
Hilton Houston Post Oak (Formerly the Doubletree).
Confirmed local partners supporting this event include:
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; CNET- Community Network; Houston Area Urban League, Inc.;
I10Media.com, League of United Latin American
Citizens (LULAC), Local Council for Latin American
Advancement (LCLAA), National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), National Black MBA Association
(NBMBAA) - Houston Chapter, and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Representatives of the State Department will be visiting Los Angeles in
efforts to recruit more African-Americans, Latinos and other people of color
into Foreign Service. The goal is to help promote U.S. diplomacy abroad.
This event is part of a national effort to ensure that the U.S. Department
of State reflects the face of America. Several senior Foreign Service
Diplomats, Ambassadors and
entry-level officers from the State Department will be available to speak
with attendees about the exciting career opportunities awaiting them.
As the lead U.S. foreign affairs agency, the Department of State helps to
shape a freer, more secure, and more prosperous world through formulating,
representing, and implementing the President's foreign policy. The U.S.
maintains diplomatic relations with about 180 countries and also maintains
relations with many international organizations, adding up to a total of
more than 265 posts around the world. The Foreign Service and the Civil
Service in the Department of State and U.S. missions abroad represent the
American people. They work together to achieve the goals and to implement
the initiatives of American foreign policy.
