Poem in SWAHILI:
Tanzania I love my country

Tanzania, Tanzania, nakupenda nchi yangu
Tanzania ni jina, zao la Tanganyika na Zanzibar
Mwaka huu 1964, Jamhuri Ukawa
Wala hupendi makuu, mambo yako kimya kimya
Tanzania nchi yangu , kweli najivunia

Ni pepo ya kimtindo, utajiju sikulazimishi
Mtu wa kwanza kuumbwa, apatika Olduvai
Wala huhitaji darasa, ukiweza tumia Vitabu
Najivunia kwa sana tu, kuwa Raia Mtanzania

Nawaona Twiga na Pundamilia, Habari wakipeana
Simba hatari yuko nao, wala si hatari kwao
Waweza kaa mgahawani, kunywa na kuburudika
Kiswahili tukiongea, lugha yetu Tanzania

Ukitaka iona dunia, wewe simama kileleni

Tanzania! Tanzania! I love you my country,
As Tanzania comes, from Tanganyika and Zanzibar
In 1964 the United Republic you became,
the one in low profile, holding that fame,
Tanzania is my country, I’m proud of you!

It’s heaven of a kind, take your time and think
First man you can find, was found along the bank
Just needs a normal mind, I f you like you can use ink
I’m really proud to be a Tanzanian citizen

Here come giraffe and zebra, say Jambo to each other
Lion zone is not safe, but for them it doesn’t bother
You can just sit in café, drink and celebrate together
Proudly I speak, Swahili for Tanzania

Get on top of the World, just reach at the peak
Imagine having a view, not everyone can hike
Mt. Kilimanjaro isn’t new, join us at the peak
Tanzania, is heaven of peace

Tanzanite is the only rock, you can find in Tanzania
Was named after you, for honoring and memories
You’re land of gemstones, floral and game parks
I like your name, a land of Mt. Kilimanjaro

Peace and harmony are our strong pillars
Firmly there standing, to hold us all
You really an example, others can follow.
Tanzania, Tanzania, you so lovely

Agriculture is the back born, that makes all alive today
From just crops to the famous corn, enabling people to meet their day
economically we transform, to meet the present day
Tanzania you rise, and keep shining forever

With more than hundred ethic groups, united you stand
Tradition meets modern troops, still values you understand
Respect is our prayer, in religions, culture and beliefs
Happy people always, Tanzanians remain

Art has its root, Kondoa in Tanzania
Look at engraved rock art, and sail to the land of Zanzibar
Rest in old forts, Spiced with Zenji ambiance
Karibu Tanzania, where WAR is a song from neighbors

Foundation was laid, by Nyerere as an architect
Ujamaa was a cement, to erect the structure.
Both now are gone, but still remained strong
Tanzania, Tanzania no one else but you, Tanzania

More can be said, to praise you Tanzania
Just these ones are enough, to make them understand
You are who you are, nothing to compare with
Tanzania, Tanzania, you are lovely country to ME.

Fred Halla was born in Songea, Southern part of Tanzania he has been working as visual artist for more than ten years. He received his Art education at the University of Dar es salaam in 2005.

His works come in different forms from cartoons, Illustrations, painting and mixed media. His inspirations come from life experience, people and events.

He trains the young artists once a month in the WAPI event run by British Council Tanzania. Apart from teaching he manages Rafiki Art Trust as a Chairperson and Project Coordinator.

He participated in various group exhibitions, workshops and residence from local to International level.

He is a board member of various boards including Advisory Committee for Museum and House of Culture and Tanzania National Committee for International Association of Art.

He won an International Young Creative Entrepreneur Award for Visual Arts in Tanzania 2008.

Talent and creativity
Are two breasts of life
With a thirst for life
Coming to life
When enlivened
With a lively touch
Buried into each other
Drinking from each other
Making sensual contractions
As they are gently caressed
By the soft arms of the mind
Milking them alternately
In a container of intellect

Talent Has No Color

Talent has no color
It flies with wings of joy
Soars in the air of delight
Reaches heights of elation
Lands on the moon of glory
Talent has no color

It shines on heart of love
Streaks on oceans of hope
Rises like a soothing wave
Falls on shores of passion
Talent has no color

It has no borders to divide
It breaks chains of hatred
Frees souls from prejudice
Unites hearts with hearts
Breeds words of wisdom
Propels power of knowledge
Talent has no color

It only integrates, Never segregates
It is a real beauty, A beauty of mind
a beauty of character and personality
A moral image in the mirror of eternity
